New Post Demarkation

Yeah, I know I said "demarkation"
I'm not sure if I spelled it right though.

What sort of symbol shows up next to threads with new posts? I thought it was a + sign, but when I look at those posts they aren't always new. There's also a little yellow and black box that looks sort of like a broken image icon, but I can't figure out what that's for..

so... moderators...tell me what's up?

the new post sign is the blue sphere with the plus sign. The plus sign by itself just signifies which topics you have posted in. The little broken box will link to the most recent post.

The above picture is what you may see when you log into the forums. The blue "square" is just a Topic icon, no new posts. The ones with the plus sign are new posts WITHIN THAT TOPIC. After clicking on a topic with a plus sign, you may see something like this.



here you see an envelope with a blue "plus sphere" that Eef was talking about. Those are new posts within that thread (A thread is a "discussion" within a topic, I know you know what a thread is, that was for general public). The plus sign you see next to "Hurray for me!" thread means you have posted within that thread.

Also, the tiny red "paper" with the arrow on it will take you to the newest post. Sometimes threads become so long that they take up multiple pages. Instead of clicking through all the pages, this will take you immediately to the newest post.

The white envelope you see is just a normal, no new, icon.

I think part of my issue is that the white envelope pictures don't load on the school computer. At least the little red box with the arrow helps me see where a new post might be located.
